National Charity Gives Everyday Athletes a Shot at Their Own Sweet 16
Houston, TX – March Madness has captivated the attention of the nation, generating more revenue than the Super Bowl in Las Vegas and coming just behind the NFL postseason in advertising spend. The average fan will never have a chance to compete personally, but will spend their time, money and energy cheering on their favorites teams. Now, a national charity gives those same fans a chance at their own Sweet 16 through Put Up A Prayer.
Put Up A Prayer is a national three-point basketball competition open to anyone in the United States to join. All ages are invited to register at www.putupaprayer.com.
“This is a great time of year for basketball fans of any age to compete for their own Sweet 16. Like March Madness, they will be competing against people from across the country. But in the end, it is the top 16 players who win an all-expense paid trip to participate in the Put Up A Prayer Finals, the Sweet 16!” said Brian Topping, Product Manager with Paradisus Dei, sponsor of Put Up A Prayer.
To date, 48 people from across the country have registered to participate in Put Up A Prayer. Unlike betting on March Madness or playing the lottery, the odds of winning are quite good.
“Right now, those players in the adult division stand a 20% chance of making it to the Sweet 16. The 7 players in the junior division stand a 100% chance of making it to the Sweet 16 as long as they submit their minimum shots on time. Odds are excellent for players in this competition.” said Topping.
The first part of the competition is done locally and online. This allows as many “average fans” as possible to participate from across the country. Players select a Team Captain and register for Put Up A Prayer online at www.putupaprayer.com. After building a fan base to financially support the team, players record video of their three-point shot attempts, update their profile with the results and upload the video. Players have until June 14, 2015 to post their results online. The Sweet 16 will be announced on June18th.
The Sweet 16 players win an all-expense paid trip to compete for the top cash prizes. NBA Champion and competition spokesman Rashard Lewis will be on hand to join in the competition. Sweet 16 finalists will compete for the $2,500 division winner award and the $10,000 grand prize overall. See all the details and register online at www.putupaprayer.com.
“Play your March Madness bracket or brackets,” said Topping. “But put yourself in a position to win your own Sweet 16 with Put Up A Prayer!”
