U.S. GSA set to auction remainder of Binghamton “Hillcrest” Depot

The U.S. General Services Administration is selling the remaining 43-acres and eight buildings of the Binghamton “Hillcrest” Depot in the Town of Fenton, Broome County, New York.  The property will be sold “as is”/”where is” through an online auction, opening for bid on Thursday May 21st, 2015.  The auction is expected to remain open for at least 60 days, into July 2015, with the closing date to be determined based upon bidding.   Interested parties are encouraged to register at www.RealEstateSales.gov , the official auction site for the property.

The Binghamton Depot includes approximately 45 acres in a private, campus setting.  The site includes a rail spur, paved drives and parking areas and a historic spillway.  Conveyance includes access easements and utility easements for the prospective buyer’s access through previously-conveyed portions of the Depot.  There are also historic preservation covenants for the spillway, a water feature along the eastern boundary of the property.  The eight buildings for sale include a mix of warehouses, garage/vehicle maintenance and administrative support buildings. Total square footage is approximately 350,000 square feet.  Most of the buildings were constructed in the 1940’s as part of the original Depot and have been maintained and remain functional for warehouse, assembly, production and manufacturing operations. The property has been vacant since 2006, although maintained by the Government.

The property is located at 1151 Hoyt Avenue in Fenton, NY.  There is direct access to the south entrance from Hoyt Avenue.  There is an access easement on the north property line over Chenango Bridge Road, which connects directly to I-88/S.R.7.

GSA will conduct property tours in Summer 2015, providing prospective bidders an opportunity to walk the property and view the interiors of each building.  This presents a prime opportunity for interested parties to tour the property and observe the functionality of the buildings.

Additional auction and property information, including surveys, reports and property data, is available on the Government’s auction website:  www.RealEstateSales.gov.  Auction terms and conditions are also detailed on the website.  Prospective bidders are encouraged to check the site for information and updates.
